Feature 1: Register Up to 3 Favourite Masjids

CityAzan allows every user to register up to 3 Masjids as their personal favourites. This is the core feature that makes CityAzan special and different from any other Azan app available in the market. The idea is rooted in a simple observation: busy working professionals do not spend their entire day in one location. They wake up at home, travel to work, and sometimes visit other locations throughout the day. Each of these locations may be near a different Masjid.

With CityAzan, a user can register their home Masjid (the one nearest to their residence), their office Masjid (the one nearest to their workplace), and a third Masjid of their choice (perhaps near a relative's home, a marketplace they frequently visit, or a Masjid they have a special affinity for). The user can then configure CityAzan to play the Azan from the appropriate Masjid based on the time of day or based on their manual selection. This means they always hear the Azan from a Masjid that is relevant to their current location, creating a seamless and spiritually meaningful experience.

Feature 2: Live City Map View with Real-Time Azan Status

When you open CityAzan, you are presented with a live interactive map of your city showing every Masjid that is registered with the OnlineAzan network. Each Masjid is represented by an icon on the map. These icons are not static — they dynamically update to show the real-time status of Azan at each Masjid.

You can see at a glance which Masjids are currently broadcasting the Azan (shown with an active indicator), which Masjids have Azan approaching soon (shown with a countdown), and which Masjids have already completed their Azan (shown with a time-since indicator). This bird's-eye view of the city's Azan landscape is something no other app provides, and it gives users an unprecedented level of awareness about the spiritual pulse of their city.

The map also displays prayer times (Salah times), Azan times, Sehri times, and Iftar times for each Masjid. All of this information is available directly on the map — you do not need to navigate to separate screens or menus. Simply tap on a Masjid icon and all the relevant timing information is displayed in a clean, easy-to-read format.

Feature 3: Tap Any Masjid to Listen to Live Azan — No Login Required

One of the most powerful features of CityAzan is the ability to tap on any Masjid icon on the live map and instantly listen to the live Azan being broadcast from that Masjid. This is a completely frictionless experience — there is no need to log in to that specific Masjid, no separate registration required, no additional steps. If the Azan is currently happening at that Masjid, you simply tap the icon and you can hear it. This feature alone makes CityAzan an incredibly valuable tool for anyone who wants to stay connected to the Azan across the city.

Feature 4: Smart Countdown Timer with Colour-Changing Indicators

CityAzan includes a live countdown timer for the next Azan at each Masjid. What makes this countdown special is that it changes colour as the Azan time approaches. When the Azan is still far away (say, 30 minutes or more), the countdown is displayed in a calm green colour. As the time gets closer (under 15 minutes), it transitions to an alert orange. And when the Azan is imminent (under 5 minutes), it turns to an urgent red, creating a visual sense of anticipation and readiness.

The Azan timing displayed in CityAzan is intelligently designed to be as close as possible to the real moment when the Muezzin will actually start the Azan. This is not simply a calculation based on generic astronomical prayer times — it takes into account the actual schedule set by each individual Masjid, making the countdown highly accurate and authentic. When the countdown reaches zero, the Muezzin at that Masjid should be starting the Azan almost simultaneously.

After the Azan has concluded at a Masjid, CityAzan switches the timer to a count-up mode. Instead of counting down, it now shows how many minutes have passed since the Azan ended. For example, it might show "Azan ended 3 minutes ago" or "Azan ended 15 minutes ago."

When a Muslim sees that the Azan ended several minutes ago, it creates a gentle but powerful sense of urgency to perform the Salah (prayer) on time. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasised the importance of praying on time:

The count-up timer serves as a constant visual reminder that the best time for prayer is immediately after the Azan. Every minute that passes after the Azan is a minute further from this optimal time. This subtle motivational design encourages punctual prayer without being intrusive or judgmental.

Feature 7: Personalised Day-Wise Settings for Professionals

CityAzan comes with a comprehensive personalised settings panel designed specifically for busy working professionals. This is where CityAzan truly differentiates itself as an app built for the modern Muslim who needs to balance their spiritual practice with their professional life.

The settings allow you to configure the following on a day-by-day basis (Monday through Sunday):

Volume Control Per Day: You can decide which days the Azan plays at loud volume and which days it plays at a reduced or limited volume. For example, you might want full volume on weekends when you are at home, but reduced volume on weekdays when you are in the office.

Mute Override Per Day: You can choose which days CityAzan should override your mobile's mute or silent mode to play the Azan. You have full control over which days this override is active.
